In a shocking turn of events, the potato-chip baker, known as Crispy Crunch, is losing billions as they struggle to wait out a major downturn in the snack industry.
After over-estimating the nation’s love for flavored chips, Crispy Crunch was left with an overwhelming amount of inventory that went unsold. In an attempt to make room for new flavors and avoid mass potato chip wastage, the company was forced to mark down prices and take a significant hit to their finances.
“We never saw this coming,” lamented CEO, Crunchy McChip. “We thought people would love our new Falafel flavored chips, but it turns out they prefer chips with more traditional flavors like Salt and Vinegar.”
The company’s COO, Chipper Jones, added, “We understand that sometimes people want to stick with the classics. We may have gotten a little too adventurous with our flavors this time around.”
Despite the setback, the company remains optimistic about the future of the potato chip industry. “We will bounce back,” said McChip. “We have already begun working on new flavors like Caramel Popcorn and Spicy Tomato which we’re sure will be a hit with snack lovers.”
Time will tell if Crispy Crunch can continue to compete in the ever-changing world of potato chips. For now, the company will continue to take things one chip at a time.
