In a shocking twist of events, reports have emerged out of Russia that a certain ‘Evan Gershkovich’ from the infamous WSJ (whatever that is) was recently caught performing espionage in the country! The authorities in question adamantly claimed that Mr. Gershkovich was seen loitering suspiciously around various government buildings whilst taking pictures of the structures. Furthermore, it was reported that he was wearing a rather bizarre getup consisting of a trench coat, dark sunglasses, and a black fedora. How stealthy.
When approached for comment, the WSJ (I mean, really, what is it?) denied the accusation, stating that they had sent Mr. Gershkovich to Russia purely for the purpose of ‘interviewing some cats’. Yes, you read that correctly. Apparently, the WSJ thought it was important to get to the bottom of the feline situation in the country. They claimed that Mr. Gershkovich was never instructed to partake in any espionage activities and that the whole accusation was nothing more than a frivolous attempt at painting them in a bad light.
We reached out to Mr. Gershkovich for his thoughts on the matter. He responded with a hearty laugh, stating that he had indeed been taking pictures of cats but that was simply due to his love for the animals. He went on to reveal that he had been wearing the trench coat and fedora as part of a ‘secret agent’ roleplay game he was indulging in. When asked why he thought the Russian authorities had accused him of espionage, Mr. Gershkovich quipped that it was probably due to his ‘dashing good looks and undeniable charm’. We can’t argue with that.
In any case, the whole situation seems to have been resolved peacefully. Russian authorities have dropped the charges against Mr. Gershkovich, and the WSJ can now happily continue with their important cat-based investigations. As for Mr. Gershkovich, he has announced that he is planning to retire his secret agent gear and instead take up a career in modeling. We wish him all the best.
