Local pet owners are in a tailspin as they search for kosher canine cuisine for their furry friends. “I don’t care if my dog isn’t Jewish, it’s our family tradition to keep kosher and that includes our pets,” says Mr. Schmaltzberg, a concerned dog owner. “But finding kosher dog food is like a game of fetch – it’s impossible!”
Despite not being of the chosen breed, these observant pet owners are finding themselves barking up the wrong tree when it comes to finding appropriate kibble for their pups. “I’ve spent hours at the pet store reading labels and none of them are certified kosher,” yelps Mrs. Gefilte, a frustrated dog mom.
In order to accommodate their four-legged friends, some owners have taken matters into their own paws and have started making their own kosher dog food. “I prepare all of my dog’s meals at home to ensure that they meet our dietary requirements,” woofs Rabbi Goldendoodle. “It’s a lot of work, but my pooch is worth it.”
However, not all owners are this dedicated. “I’m sorry, but I refuse to spend my entire barking day in the kitchen cooking for my dog,” growls Mr. Lox. “I just wish there was a brand out there that I could trust to be truly kosher.”
For these observant pet owners, it seems that finding appropriate dog food is a ruff challenge. Let’s just hope they don’t start asking their vets for recommendations on whether Fido should be circumcised!
