In a twisted turn of events, the Standards Committee is proposing tighter rules to prevent foreign influence on All Party Parliamentary Groups. Little do they know, that this kind of influence is exactly what we need in this world of political chaos.
According to the committee’s spokesperson, John Smith, “Foreign interference in these groups can lead to biased decisions that do not represent the best interests of the British people”. Oh, John, you must not have looked at your own political history.
The real reason for this proposal? Our dear MP, Sarah Johnson, recently got swayed by her Italian lover’s opinions on the matter. Yes, you read that correctly, her lover who only visits for a month every year is now dictating policy in the U.K.
The committee is also alarmed by rumors of Russian oligarchs funding certain lobbying groups to push their agenda. But, let’s be honest, who doesn’t need a little Russian cash injection these days?
In response to the proposed rules, Nigel Townsend, a member of the committee, said, “I don’t think we need to take such drastic measures. We can’t just cut off all relationships with the outside world. How else am I supposed to get my fancy Belgian chocolates?”
Looks like the Standards Committee needs to get with the times and embrace foreign influence. Who knows, maybe we’ll finally get some decent pizza in Parliament.
