In a bizarre turn of events, a group of rowdy tourists on board two boats attempted to cross the Mediterranean Sea in a bid to reach the land of pasta and pizza, Italy. Sources say that the boats were packed with more than 80 people in total, who appeared to be high on adventure (and maybe a little too much wine).
According to eyewitness accounts, the boats were rocking and rolling as the passengers cheered and clapped in excitement. However, their enthusiasm was short-lived as they soon realized that they had no idea where they were going or how to navigate the treacherous waters.
As panic set in, the tourists frantically started waving their arms and screaming for help. Luckily, a passing fisherman spotted the boats and alerted the coastguard, who raced to the scene.
Upon their arrival, the coastguard was greeted by a motley crew of sunburnt and sea-sick tourists who were desperate for rescue. It is said that one woman even begged the coastguard to take her to the nearest luxury hotel, as she had had enough of roughing it out at sea.
After a nail-biting rescue operation, all the tourists were brought back to shore and promptly hauled off to the local police station. It is believed that they will be charged with reckless endangerment, disturbing the peace, and, of course, attempting to cross international waters without a map or a clue.
In a statement released by the local authorities, they urged tourists to stick to more conventional modes of transportation and not to attempt any more “Titanic-like” adventures in the future.
As for the boats, they are now headed for the scrap yard, where they will be put out of their misery and given a proper burial at sea. May they rest in peace, knowing that they gave their passengers a wild ride that they will never forget (or maybe would like to forget).
