In a surprising turn of events, the popular online property portal, Leftmove, has announced that even though the number of available properties is increasing, rental prices are skyrocketing!

According to their latest reports, the rise in rental costs is due to the incredible demand from tenants who are desperate to secure a home before the winter sets in. So much so, that some people are now queuing outside rental properties overnight, just to make sure that they get their hands on the keys!

John Smith, a local landlord, has reported that he has been inundated with calls from prospective tenants, most of whom are offering above the asking price just to secure a viewing. He’s even considering hiring bouncers to help manage the crowds!

Meanwhile, Sarah Jones, a tenant currently searching for a new home in the area, has confessed that the whole process has become incredibly stressful. “I feel like I’m competing in The Hunger Games for a roof over my head!” she quipped.

But it seems that Leftmove has a solution to the problem. They are launching a new feature called “Pay-to-Bid,” which will allow tenants to pay a fee to be given priority over other applicants. This means that the highest bidder will secure the property, regardless of their employment status or credit history. Genius!

One thing is for sure, it looks like rental prices are going to keep on rising for the foreseeable future. But at least now, tenants have the option to buy themselves to the top of the rental ladder. Who said there was no such thing as a meritocracy?
