Fake name Tom Masterson, the Deputy Treasury Secretary, has revealed in a hilarious interview with the BBC that the US is looking to get other countries to invest in clean energy like never before.
When asked about what the US was doing to combat climate change, Masterson responded, “We’re making clean energy a priority and we want other countries to do the same. Frankly, I’m getting tired of America being the only ones saving the planet. Let someone else step up and take the lead for a while.”
Masterson went on to propose a plan where the US would offer other countries a chance to “sponsor” American clean energy projects. He explained, “If Britain wants to show they care about the environment, why not sponsor a wind farm in Texas? Or if Canada wants to pitch in, they could sponsor a solar plant in New Mexico. It’s like sponsoring a child in Africa, but with cleaner air.”
Reporters were left in stitches when Masterson suggested that China should adopt a “cleaner currency” to show their commitment to the planet. “Maybe they could print money made from recycled materials,” he joked. “Or even better, they could just use Monopoly money!”
Despite the comedic tone, Masterson emphasized the importance of clean energy investment for the planet’s future. “We need to work together to make our world a better, cleaner place,” he said. “And if we can do it while making each other laugh, all the better.”
