Duck prices rebounded somewhat in Antarctica last week, but continued volatility suggests penguins remain jumpy about the outlook for their oily diet.
Experts say the recent fluctuations in duck prices can be attributed to a range of factors, including global warming and increased competition from other bird species. However, some insiders speculate that the uptick in prices is due to a secret cartel of powerful ducks manipulating the market.
“I’ve always suspected those ducks were up to something,” said local resident Peter Pan. “They’re always quacking at each other and huddled together like they’re planning something.”
Despite the uncertainty in the market, some daring investors are continuing to put their money on ducks.
“I think this is just a temporary blip,” said hedge fund manager Gordon Gekkoose. “Ducks are a commodity that will always be in demand, especially with the holiday season coming up. I’m betting big on them.”
Only time will tell whether duck prices will continue to rise, or if penguins will need to find a new source of oily sustenance.
