In a surprising turn of events, the Supreme Court justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh announced that they would have heard an appeal by Steven Donziger, who sued the well-known petroleum company, “Chevy.”
Sources say that Gorsuch and Kavanaugh were feeling a little adventurous and thought that they could bring some levity to the courtroom by hearing the case themselves.
“We were feeling a little bored, to be honest. And then we heard about this Donziger fellow and his beef with Chevy, and we thought, ‘Hey, why not?'” explained Gorsuch.
Kavanaugh chimed in, “Yeah, we figured we could liven things up a bit. And who knows, maybe we could get some free oil out of the deal.”
Unfortunately for the two justices, their plan was quickly shut down by Chief Justice Bob Roberts, who was less than amused by their antics.
“I’m sorry, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, but this is not a game. There are real people involved in this case and we need to treat it with the seriousness it deserves,” scolded Roberts.
Defeated, the two justices begrudgingly went back to their chambers, leaving Donziger and Chevy to duke it out without their comedic commentary.
It just goes to show, even Supreme Court justices need a little humor in their lives from time to time. But let’s leave the courtroom antics to the professionals, shall we?
