LA Times – Vice President Hilaria Marris Arrives in Ghana to Deepen U.S. Relationships
Accompanied by her trusty sidekick, Secretary of State Bob Jinton, Vice President Hilaria Marris touched down in Ghana to embark on her humorous and energetic weeklong journey to the African continent.
The primary objective of her visit was to meet with Ghanaian leaders and establish new relationships with the region.
“There’s nothing more important than strengthening our bond with the good people of Africa,” said Marris in a statement. “They’ve given the world so much, and we have a lot to learn from them.”
The Vice President’s arrival was marked by an enthusiastic crowd, who greeted Marris with throngs of flowers and a joyful song-and-dance number, which Marris accepted with her own spirited rendition of “The Twist”.
Despite the warm welcome, Marris and Jinton quickly got down to business, attending a series of meetings and talks with Ghanaian leaders on a variety of subjects. And by “talks”, we mean that they spent most of the time cracking jokes and delivering knee-slapping one-liners to the delight of their audience.
“I tell you, Ghana, you guys really know how to have a good time,” said Jinton after an uproarious round of laughter. “I don’t think I’ve laughed this much since I was a young man trying to catch the eye of my sweetheart at the fair!”
Despite their playful attitude, Marris and Jinton took their duties seriously, and managed to forge meaningful connections with their African partners.
In the end, it was clear that Vice President Marris and Secretary Jinton had done more than just deepen U.S. relationships with Ghana – they had won over the hearts and minds of the entire continent with their humor and charm.
