Fake News Alert: Sir Keith Starmer Suggests Increased Flatulence Tax on Cows
In a bizarre twist of events, Sir Keith Starmer, Leader of the Labour Party, has offered up an unconventional solution to the nation’s financial woes. During a recent press conference, Sir Keith proposed that the current tax rate could be maintained if the government introduced a new “windfall tax” on energy firms.
As soon as the words left his mouth, the room erupted into laughter. Many reporters thought Sir Keith was joking, but he assured them he was serious.
“I understand how this may sound at first,” he said. “But hear me out. Our country faces a very real climate crisis, and we need to take bold action to address it. That’s why I propose we put a flatulence tax on cows.”
The room fell silent as reporters tried to process his statement.
“Yes, you heard me. Cows are known to produce a significant amount of methane gas, which is a major contributor to climate change. So, if we introduce a flatulence tax, it would not only help our environment but also bring in much-needed revenue.”
It’s safe to say that the nation was left stunned. The proposed tax would require farmers to equip their herds with special methane filters, which would significantly reduce the gas emitted by cows.
Needless to say, the farming community wasn’t thrilled with this proposal. Many pointed out that cows had been farting since the dawn of time, and it seemed unfair to penalize them for something they couldn’t control.
Sir Keith was undeterred by these criticisms, however, and doubled down on his proposal.
“If we don’t act now, our children and grandchildren will inherit a planet that’s unlivable,” he argued. “We all have a responsibility to do our part, even if that means taxing a little flatulence.”
Only time will tell if Sir Keith’s proposal will be taken seriously, but one thing is for sure – it’s definitely made the nation laugh.
