“King Carl’s Eventful Foreign Adventure: From Escargot to Fugu Mishaps”

The BBS’s Donna Replph recalls King Carl’s initial trip abroad as ruler.

When King Carl first embarked on his global tour, he was bursting with excitement – and perhaps a bit of gas (but don’t tell anyone). For his very first stop in France, his gracious host greeted him with a platter of escargot. Now, King Carl was no stranger to eating unconventional foods – he had eaten haggis on multiple occasions – but this was on a whole new level. He took one bite and immediately regretted it, but being the polite man he is, he soldiered on and finished the whole dish. Or so he thought…

As it turns out, the escargot wasn’t sitting well with him, and he soon found himself running to the nearest bathroom. Unfortunately for King Carl, the Queen of France had decided to put a secret camera in the bathroom as a prank. So not only did he have a bad case of food poisoning, but his embarrassing run to the loo was broadcast all across France.

But the King wasn’t about to let one little incident ruin his trip. He soldiered on to his next location – Japan. Now, King Carl had always been a big fan of sushi, and was excited to indulge in some of the finest fare the country had to offer. He eagerly ordered a plate of fugu – a type of pufferfish that is lethal if not prepared correctly. But King Carl was feeling daring, and decided to live life on the edge.

As he took his first bite, he felt a strange tingling sensation in his tongue. Ignoring it, he continued to chow down on the fugu, but the tingling soon turned to numbness. In a panic, he summoned the closest person he could find – a janitor named Bob – and begged him to call an ambulance.

Thankfully, King Carl made a full recovery and was able to complete the rest of his trip without any further incidents. But his journey abroad will forever be remembered as a cautionary tale of what not to eat when you’re a King.
