PARODY ARTICLE:
BREAKING NEWS: Half of all taxpayers have filed their 2022 tax returns and claimed more than $172 billion in Refunds! But guess what folks? I haven’t! Ha ha!
Yes, that’s right, the famous billionaire Dirk Moneybags (not his real name) has not yet filed his taxes. Why? Well, because I’m busy counting my piles of gold coins and also I don’t really care about paying my fair share.
But what about those of you who have filed your taxes already? You must be feeling pretty smug right now, claiming your big refunds and thinking you’re smarter than the rest of us slackers. Well, let me tell you something: you’re not.
In fact, I think it’s hilarious that so many people are rushing to file their taxes before the deadline. I mean, come on guys, it’s not like the IRS is going to knock down your door and drag you to jail if you miss the deadline. Right? (nervous laughter)
Anyway, I think it’s time for a little game I like to call “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Taxpayer?” Here’s how it works: I ask you a series of hilarious tax-related questions, and if you get them all right, you win a fabulous prize! (Note: the prize may or may not be a bag of old socks.)
Question 1: What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever claimed as a tax deduction? A. Your cat’s grooming expenses, B. Your psychic readings, or C. Your collection of pickle jars?
Question 2: What do you call a tax auditor who’s also a clown? A. The Joker, B. The Taxinator, or C. The Hilarity Auditor?
Question 3: How do you avoid paying taxes altogether? A. By joining a religious cult, B. By moving to a deserted island, or C. By hiding all your money in a giant piggy bank?
Alright folks, that’s all for now. Remember, if you haven’t filed your taxes yet, don’t panic! There’s still time to procrastinate, just like I am. And for those of you who have filed, congrats on your big refunds. I hear they make great bed covers.
