Investors were left scratching their heads on Monday as manufacturing data came in weaker than expected, despite all the magic tricks up the government’s sleeve these days. To make matters worse, oil prices rose faster than a hot air balloon filled with clown farts.

“It’s a real joke,” said financial analyst Chuckles McJester. “I mean, who would have thought that our made-up numbers would turn out to be wrong? It’s almost as if we don’t know what we’re doing.”

Shares of Fake Company Inc. fell by 3 percent, as investors panicked and realized they had no idea what they were investing in. “I thought I was buying into a cutting-edge tech company,” said one bewildered shareholder. “But now it seems like they’re just a bunch of clowns.”

The rise in oil prices also had investors feeling like they were part of a circus act. “I don’t even know what’s going on anymore,” said another shareholder. “Everything is so upside down, I feel like I’m living in a clown world.”

Despite the chaos, some investors remained optimistic. “It’s just one bad day,” said investment advisor Bozo McLaugh. “We’ll all look back on this and laugh someday. Or we’ll all be homeless, one or the other.”
