FYI, nobody enjoys bankruptcy, but sometimes we have to make fun of things to make them less painful. With that being said, here are some hilarious chapter 11 bankruptcy filings that made us laugh and cry simultaneously.
1. Jerry’s Jellybean Empire: We suppose the jellybean craze didn’t last too long. We’re sorry, Jerry, maybe you should have tried investing in a more sustainable product.
2. Bob’s Bedazzled Banana Hammock: We’re not sure how Bob managed to run a business designing and bedazzling banana hammocks, but apparently, he couldn’t make ends meet. Maybe he should have branched out into bedazzled speedos.
3. Martha’s Maracas: Who knew there wasn’t a huge demand for novelty maracas in the current economy? We’re sure Martha was shaking things up as best she could, but alas, it wasn’t enough.
4. Pete’s Pogo Stick Emporium: People still use pogo sticks? Apparently not enough to keep Pete’s business afloat.
5. Sally’s Sassy Sock Shop: We can’t even begin to imagine what kind of socks Sally was selling that would put her in this predicament. We hope they were some seriously sassy socks.
6. Chuck’s Chainmail Coats: We suppose the market for chainmail coats isn’t as big as we thought it was. Sorry, Chuck, maybe try selling something a little more practical.
7. Henry’s Hipster Hat Haven: It turns out hipsters aren’t as devoted to hats as we thought they were. Henry, we hope you find a new niche market to conquer.
8. Nancy’s Non-stick Noodle Knives: We’re not sure if this business was too niche or if the word just didn’t get out about Nancy’s amazing non-stick noodle knives. Either way, we’re sorry to see it go.
9. Greg’s Gag Gift Graveyard: Apparently, people only find gag gifts funny once. Sorry, Greg, maybe try a different type of humor?
10. Karen’s Karaoke Kiosks: It seems like everyone has karaoke machines at home these days, which means Karen’s kiosks were probably a little redundant. We hope she scales back and tries again.
Well, there you have it, folks. We hope you got a good laugh out of these ridiculous chapter 11 bankruptcies. Remember, if you’re struggling with debt, there’s always a way out.
