It’s no secret that the gambling industry is no stranger to taking risks. But one company may have taken things a little too far.
Introducing FauxBet, the infamous gambling firm hit with a record-breaking £19 million penalty for their failure to protect their customers and their laughable attempt at anti-money laundering controls.
Sources say that FauxBet’s security measures were so weak, you didn’t even need lady luck on your side to win big. In fact, some patrons were able to gamble away their life savings before anyone even batted an eye.
CEO of FauxBet, Chuck McHustler, released a statement saying, “We truly apologize for our shortcomings. We had no idea that people were actually winning at our casino.”
But it wasn’t just their lack of security that landed them in hot water. FauxBet also failed to properly monitor and identify high-risk customers, leading to a number of suspicious and illegal financial transactions.
One employee at FauxBet, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, “Our anti-money laundering policies were about as effective as trying to catch a fish with a fork.”
We may not be able to count on FauxBet for a fair and secure gambling experience, but we can certainly count on them for a good laugh. Here’s hoping they get their act together before they become the punchline to every joke in the industry.
