In a shocking turn of events, Disney has decided to lay off Marvel’s Entertainment Chairman, Isaac Perlmutter! Perlmutter, who has been with the company since the days of the original Peter Parker, has been handed a pink slip as the House of Mouse continues their ongoing purging of over 7,000 workers.
Sources close to the situation have stated that Perlmutter tried to fight back against his dismissal, even going so far as to launch his own Infinity War against the Disney corporation. Unfortunately for him, he was no match for the onslaught of Disney executives who had already snapped away half of Marvel’s staff.
Perlmutter, known for his strict attention to detail and infamous temper tantrums, was reportedly last seen storming out of his corner office while screaming at a plant in the lobby. His departure has sent shockwaves through the Marvel Universe, leaving fans to wonder what this could mean for beloved comic book characters Iron Man, Thor, and The Hulk.
The remaining executives at Marvel, including VP Tom Brevoort and writer Dan Slott, were seen huddled around a copy of The Infinity Gauntlet, frantically debating who would be the next to fall victim to the snap. Rumors have begun circulating that Mickey Mouse himself may be the new Marvel Entertainment Chairman.
In response to the layoffs, fans have started a Change.org petition to bring back Perlmutter, citing his importance to the company and the comic book community as a whole. However, it is unlikely that their efforts will reverse the decision made by the House of Mouse.
Only time will tell what will happen next in the world of Marvel, but one thing is for sure: it’s going to take a lot more than a Hulk fist to defeat the might of Disney.
