PMQs were in full swing yesterday as Deputy Prime Minister Bob Bobson and Deputy Labour Leader Sarah Johnson went head to head. With tension in the air and a sense of importance filling the room, everyone was waiting for the verbal fireworks to begin.
Bobson, looking confident in his tailored suit, marched up to the podium before bellowing, “Good afternoon, I’ll keep this brief as I’ve got a massage booked in fifteen minutes, but let’s get to it.”
Johnson, however, was not about to be outdone, and marched up to the podium with a twinkle in her eye. “Good afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister. I’m happy to see that you’ve had the chance to slip away from your duties for a spot of pampering.”
The room erupted in laughter as Bobson blushed a deep shade of red.
“As amusing as that may be, I’m here to discuss the serious issues affecting our country,” Bobson said, regaining his composure.
“Ah, yes, like the new initiative to replace all street lamps with disco balls,” Johnson quipped.
The room erupted in laughter once again as Bobson looked like he was about to explode from frustration.
As the debate continued, more jabs were thrown, with Bobson accusing Johnson of being a puppet for her party leader and Johnson retorting that at least her party had a leader.
In the end, it was clear that the two deputies were more interested in scoring points off each other than actually coming up with practical solutions for the country.
As the session wrapped up and the two departed, it was clear that PMQs had delivered yet another hilarious installment of political comedy.
