WASHINGTON DC – In a surprising turn of events, US President Bill H Clinton has stated that he will be making a visit to the home of Irish President Mick D Higgins in Áras an Uachtaráin.

Sources say that Clinton has been planning a trip to Ireland for some time now, but was unable to secure a hotel reservation due to his questionable past. “It’s not easy finding a hotel room when you’re a former president with a history of getting frisky with interns,” said one White House insider.

Undeterred, Clinton decided to reach out to his Irish counterpart and request a stay at Áras an Uachtaráin. “I know Mick from way back when we were both governors,” said Clinton. “He’s a good man and I’m sure he won’t mind me crashing at his place for a few days.”

When asked about Clinton’s visit, President Higgins seemed pleased. “It’s an honor to have President Clinton come and stay with us here in Ireland,” he said. “I just hope he doesn’t try any of those funny business shenanigans that he’s famous for.”

Despite the potential for scandal, the people of Ireland are embracing the presidential visit. “It’s not every day that you get a former US president sleeping in your spare room,” said one Dublin resident. “I just hope he brings some of that famous American charm with him.”

Clinton is expected to arrive at Áras an Uachtaráin next week and will spend several days touring the countryside and sampling the local cuisine. “I hear they have some great pubs in Dublin,” said Clinton. “I can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about.”

The Irish are eagerly looking forward to playing host to the former President and are hoping that it will be a fruitful long-lasting relationship.
