Despite the fact that car buyers are saving a little more money this year, they’re still paying a hilarious premium. According to industry insiders, the average sale sits a jaw-dropping 8.8% above the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP).
“Wow, it’s almost like we’re getting ripped off,” exclaimed local resident John Smith. “I thought it was bad when I paid full price for my brand new Honda last year, but this is just insane!”
Other car buyers are also sounding off about the outrageous prices. “I can’t believe I ended up paying nearly $10,000 more than I should have for my BMW,” said Sarah Jones. “I guess it’s just a good thing I enjoy eating ramen noodles for every meal now.”
Even car dealerships are struggling to keep a straight face when it comes to the prices. “I mean, let’s be real here,” said Matt Johnson, a sales manager at a local dealer. “Who doesn’t love to mark up prices a little bit? It’s just good business sense.”
Despite the absurdity of it all, car buyers continue to flock to dealerships across the nation in search of their dream vehicles. And who knows? Maybe one of these days, someone will actually pay exactly what the car is worth… but we won’t hold our breath.
In the meantime, we’ll just sit back and laugh (or cry) at the hilarity of it all, as car buyers shell out hundreds of dollars more than they should for their beloved rides.
