Local politician Joey Johnson was caught on camera expressing his doubts about Australia pursuing nuclear-powered submarines. The member for Sydney-West argued that the cost and timeframes were just too high and that he’s “concerned about the question of nuclear waste”, given that “we haven’t yet managed to find a solution for the low-level waste after 40 years”.
This statement left many wondering if Joey had any solutions of his own. “Maybe we could just dump the waste in someone else’s backyard, I don’t know,” suggested one citizen sarcastically. “Or we could just bury it in the sand and hope for the best!”
Others were quick to point out that this was just another politician who talks the talk, but can’t walk the walk. “If you’re so concerned about the environment, why don’t you ride a bike to work instead of driving around in a gas-guzzling SUV?” asked a local environmental activist.
Despite his reputation as a bit of a clown, Joey is adamant that he will keep fighting for what he believes in, no matter how unpopular it may be. “I’m not afraid to speak up against the big guys,” he declared. “Even if they do have nuclear weapons!”
