In what economists are calling “The Great Metal Wipeout of 2021”, the price of base metals has taken a steep plunge in early trading thanks to some major concerns. It seems that the demand for industrial goods is at an all-time low, leaving folks scratching their heads and asking “What are we supposed to do with all these factory machines now?”.
Making matters worse, there are rising fears that high inflation will continue to run rampant. The only thing worse than a ridiculously high price tag on a box of cereal is having the same price tag on a used toaster.
ANZ Research commented on the situation, saying “Well, this is a total dumpster fire. It’s like everyone decided to blow their life savings on Beanie Babies and now nobody wants to play with them anymore.”
While some are calling this a financial catastrophe, others see it as an opportunity. “Sure, we might have lost a few bucks on tin and copper, but think of all the penny slot machines we can now afford to play!” exclaimed local gambler, Bob Smithson.
Only time will tell if the market can recover from this setback. Until then, we’ll be here trying to pawn off all of our now-worthless aluminum pots and pans.
